Rights Respecting Schools Award

The variety of topics covered in PSHE lessons include relationships & sex education, money, personal health, social issues and drug awareness – providing children with vital information to live a healthy life. At Manadon, we feel that an awareness of these topics is crucial to provide children with an understanding of the world we live in and how they can stay safe.

Our staff feel it is important that resilience, confidence and independence are highlighted as attributes that should be developed in our pupils. Moreover, their skill and professionalism enables them to select a wide range of appropriate resources to support and encourage all learners.

As a school, we are inclusive and support many different charities throughout the year, with children participating in a huge range of fund raising activities.

Furthermore, upper key stage 2 are encouraged to explore wider life issues in preparation for secondary school and beyond. Indeed, we feel proud that through our PSHE curriculum and the ethos of Mrs Gilbride and the whole school team, our children at Manadon leave us as kind, discerning, confident and well-balanced individuals.
