Rights Respecting Schools Award

Through finding out about how and why the world, our country, cultures and local communities have developed overtime, our children leave Manadon Vale Primary School understanding how the past influences the present. This, we believe develops a context for their growing identities as they move thorough education and beyond.

At Manadon Vale Primary School, we provide a comprehensive and engaging history curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of the past while nurturing our children’s curiosity and critical thinking skills. Our primary history curriculum is designed to incorporate an "Enquiry-Based Learning" approach, ensuring that substantive concepts run through the curriculum, building knowledge, and promoting a lifelong love for history.

The primary history curriculum focuses on substantive concepts that are fundamental to understanding the complexity and interconnectedness of historical events. These concepts are carefully integrated throughout the different year groups and topics, ensuring continuity and coherence in learning.

Teachers design lesson plans that encourage students to ask questions, investigate historical evidence, and draw conclusions. Enquiry-based activities, such as analysing primary sources and role-playing historical figures, are incorporated regularly. The history curriculum is integrated with other subjects, such as English, geography, and art, to reinforce substantive concepts and provide a holistic learning experience.

Years 3,4 and 5 parents!! Please remember tomorrow is the Year 6 charity fair. We will be inviting children to the year 6 classrooms tomorrow to purchase any items that are on offer. Please remember we do not have a float so small change is really essential if they wish to purchase any items. There is absolutely no pressure to purchase. The children are just really excited to show what they have created. If your child has any allergies or food intolerances please do not purchase any home made goods as we cannot guarantee the ingredients. Thank you for all your support. The children cannot wait!!

Dear Parents and Carers, We are delighted to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair. Book Fair Details: Date(s): Monday 16th March, Tuesday 17th March and Thursday 19th March. Time(s): 8:00-8:30am and 3:00-3:45pm.
