A huge congratulations to all 78 entries in our RRS competition! The RRS school leaders came together to select a winner, and we're excited to announce that Chloe's design has won. Her design will now be made into a t-shirt and become the official RRS mascot for the school. Well done, Chloe!👏⭐

⚽️ We may not have won the tournament but the Year 6 Football team played to an exceptional standard this afternoon against strong teams! They demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and even though they didn't get the result they wanted, they NEVER backed down from the challenge! They have made us all SO proud! Well done, MVPS! 💙❤️💛 🌟

This year, World Book Day will take place on Thursday 6th March and as a school we are celebrating it. We want to encourage the children at Manadon to enjoy reading and use the power of books to educate and entertain. This year at Manadon, we would like each year group to dress up as a character from a book by a famous author. The following year groups and authors have been selected by our teachers. These are: EYFS: Eric Carle Year1: Julia Donaldson Year2: Oliver Jeffers Year3: Terry Deary Year4: Roger Hargreaves Year5: JK Rowling Year6: David Walliams All year groups will be reading stories and snippets from these authors over the next few weeks, in the build-up to World Book Day, so that the children have knowledge and understanding of this author and the stories they have written. Each year group will also be completing various activities based on the stories and characters from their chosen author. Activities may include writing, artwork, research, role play etc. Why celebrate World Book Day? -Promote reading: World Book Day encourages people to read for fun, which can lead to a happier and more successful life. -Celebrate books: World Book Day is a day to celebrate the joy of reading and sharing books. -Bridge divides: World Book Day aims to use books to bridge divides and promote education. If you are struggling for costume ideas for your child/children, please feel free to speak to your child's class teacher. Please do not feel that you have to go out and buy a new costume, wearing clothing and bits and pieces from home is absolutely fine, even if it is not a direct match to a character. Thank you.
